Ted Turner Receives Bennett Recognition Award
Prominent media mogul, entrepreneur and philanthropist Ted Turner recently received a unique Bennett recognition award from the LBJ Foundation honoring his work and support to preserve and protect our natural world. The award, called the Lady Bird Johnson Environmental Award, honors outstanding achievements in the preservation, restoration, or improvement of the natural world. For this prestigious award, the LBJ Foundation selected the unique Bennett recognition award “In Our Hands”, designed by acclaimed Bennett Awards sculptor Terrie Bennett. The bronze sculpture award depicts two hands gently holding a globe aloft.
Michael Douglas Receives Bennett Recognition Award
Academy Award winning actor and producer Michael Douglas received a Bennett recognition award from George Eastman House in honor of his distinguished contributions to the art of film. The award – the George Eastman Award - is the museum’s highest honor in motion pictures, and was the first film award given by a U.S. cultural institution to honor artistic work of enduring value. For this award, George Eastman House selected the unique Bennett award “Elite” – a bronze sculpture award featuring natural patina and high-polished edges.
Firestone Grand Prix Commissions New Bennett Custom Awards
The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Pete commissioned Bennett Awards to create new custom trophies for its 2015 Verizon IndyCar Series race, part of the premier open wheeled race series in the Americas. The trophies were given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in the race. For these trophies, Bennett Awards created custom pewter sculpture awards based on the race’s logo: a stylized silhouette of an Indy car in front of a circular sun image. These sculptures were mounted on three different sized bases with sublimated plates containing the race logo, race date, and place of finish.
Stacy Keach, John Hurt, Dame Diana Rigg Receive Bennett Recognition Awards
Award winning actors Stacy Keach, John Hurt, and Dame Diana Rigg were all recent recipients of custom recognition awards designed by Bennett Awards for the Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC). The STC, one of the nation’s leading theatre companies, selected these three performing artists as their 2014 recipients of their William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre (the Will Award). The Will Award is presented each year to an artist or artists who have made a significant contribution to classical theatre in America. This is the eighth straight year that STC has used Bennett Awards for this prestigious award.
Bennett Custom Award Presented to Champions of 2014 Nike International Friendlies
For the 5th straight year, Nike and the US Soccer Federation used a custom award designed and produced by Bennett Awards to recognize the champion of the Nike International Friendlies soccer tournament, an international youth soccer tournament involving Under-17 Men’s National Teams from four different countries. This year, the teams participating in the competition were the Australia, Braxil, England, and the USA. In 2010, Bennett Awards designed a custom trophy for this tournament, the design of which that has been used each year since then. Up until this year, the award was cast in pewter. In 2014, however, the award material was transitioned to bronze.
Buddy Guy Receives Bennett Recognition Award
Blues legend Buddy Guy, a six-time Grammy Award recipient, received a Bennett recognition award from the state of Louisiana in honor of the Lifetime Achievement Award he received at this year’s 2015 Grammy Awards. The recognition award was presented to Guy at the 9th Annual “Only in Louisiana” luncheon, which recognizes Louisiana’s Grammy Award nominees. For this award, Guy received the unique Bennett Award “Melody”, which depicts a stylized music note.
Les Paul Receives Bennett Recognition Award
The legendary musician and guitar pioneer Les Paul posthumously received a recognition award created by Bennett Awards from Hearing Education and Awareness for Rockers (H.E.A.R.). H.E.A.R, a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of hearing loss and tinnitus, honored Paul with its Leadership Award, which recognizes leadership through public service regarding hearing conservation in music.
Bennett Awards Creates “Golden Noodle” Award for Inaugural Mac & Cheese Fest
Bennett Awards created a new custom award design called the “Golden Noodle” award for the inaugural Mac & Cheese Fest, which honored the best dish based on this iconic food favorite. Over 50 restaurants competed in the competition, held in Chicago, Illinois. The award featured a custom sculpture in the shape of a macaroni noodle mounted on a black marble base.
The Everly Brothers Receive Bennett Awards from Rock Hall of Fame
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame presented The Everly Brothers with Bennett recognition awards as part of their American Music Masters Series. These awards honor groundbreaking musicians who have helped shaped the evolution of popular music, and whose contributions and stories merit broader recognition. The Rock Hall of Fame used the Bennett Awards design “Harmonize” for these awards, which feature a sculpture in the shape of a stylized music note.
National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts Selects Bennett Awards
The National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts (NHFA) commissioned a new custom award design from Bennett Awards for some recognition awards they recently presented. The first award was the Raul Julia Award for Excellence, which is given annually to a person or persons who are making a critical difference for Latino artists. The 2014 Raul Julia Award was presented to Latin Rock superstar and dedicated philanthropist Juanes. The second award was the Horizon Award, which honors individuals who have not only emerged but continue to make a positive impact in all that they do, both personally and professionally. The 2014 recipients of this award were actress Emily Rios (The Bridge), and actor Jesse Garcia (From Dusk Till Dawn).
