Bennett Awards Creates “Golden Noodle” Award for Inaugural Mac & Cheese Fest
Bennett Awards created a new custom recognition award for the inaugural Mac & Cheese Fest. The “Golden Noodle” award recognized the best Mac & Cheese dish among Chicagoland restaurants. Over 50 restaurants participated in the competition, held October 14, 2014, at the University of Illinois at Chicago Forum.
A distinguished panel of judges presided over the competition, basing their votes on taste, texture, and creativity. Votes from event attendees were also factored into the competition.
After all of the votes were tallied, Kitty O’Shea’s took first place in the competition with their “Chicago Mix Mac & Cheese” dish, made from cheddar mac, short rib, corn bread, and Tabasco onions with a salted caramel drizzle.
For the Golden Noodle award, Bennett Awards created a custom sculpture in the shape of a macaroni noodle. The sculpture was cast in pewter, and then plated in gold. The sculpture was then mounted on a black marble base with custom engraving including the award name, event name, and event logotype.
