Buddy Guy Receives Bennett Recognition Award
Blues legend Buddy Guy, a six-time Grammy Award recipient, recently received a Bennett recognition award from the state of Louisiana. Guy received the unique Bennett Award “Melody” from Louisiana Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne in honor of the Lifetime Achievement Award he received at this year’s Grammy Awards.
Guy received the award, which is based on a stylized representation of a music note, at the 9th Annual “Only in Louisiana” luncheon, held in Los Angeles, California, on February 7, 2015, the day before the 2015 Grammy Awards. “Only in Louisiana” celebrates Louisiana’s rich culinary and musical heritage each year by recognizing Louisiana’s Grammy-nominated musicians.
This year’s Only in Louisiana event was held at the Conga Room, next to Staples Center, the site of this year’s Grammy Awards. 4 Grammy nominees from Louisiana were present at the event, which also featured food prepared by world-famous chefs John Besh and Wolfgang Puck.
