WomenHeart Presents Bennett Recognition Awards
WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Women with Heart Disease, presented new, unique Bennett recognition awards to the 2019 recipients of their 19th annual Wenger Awards. Each year, the Wenger Awards honor ndividuals and organizations for their extraordinary contributions to women’s heart health. Named after Nanette Kass Wenger, M.D., a pioneer in women’s cardiology, this is the leading award that gives recognition to individuals and organizations for their extraordinary contributions to women’s heart health.
For the ninth straight year, WomenHeart presented Wenger Award recipients with sculpture awards based on the unique Bennett Award design “Hearts of Fire”. These sculpture awards were cast in pewter with a brushed satin finish. They were mounted on bases with personalized engraving of the WomenHeart logo, award name, award recipient, and date of presentation.
Four Wenger Awards were presented this year:
Wenger Award for Public Policy: Representative Robin Kelly (D – IL)
Wenger Award for Excellence in Media: Dr. Tara Narula, CBS News Medical Correspondent, Lenox Hill Hospital & Zucker School of Medicine
Wenger Award for Excellence in Medical Leadership & Research: Dr. Carl J. Pepine, UF Health
Wenger Award for Excellence in Medical Innovation: Dr. Annabelle S. Volgman, Rush Medical College / Rush University Medical Center
These recognition trophies were presented to honorees at the 19th Annual Wegner Awards ceremony, held May 20, 2019 at the Capital Hilton in Washington, DC.
