Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame Presents Custom Bennett Awards
The Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame presented its 2019 inductee class with custom awards created by Bennett Awards. Induction into the Hall of Fame is considered the highest honor in the Canadian Olympic Movement. The 2019 inductees who received these custom recognition awards consisted of four athletes (Émilie Heymans / Alexandre Despatie / Christine Girard / Simon Whitfield), two teams (Vancouver 2010 women’s hockey team / London 2012 women’s soccer team), two builders (Jack Poole / Randy Starkman) and one coach (Hiroshi Nakamura).
The Canadian Olympic Committee worked with Bennett Awards to create new, unique custom awards for this event. The centerpiece of the award design was an oval sculpture in the shape of an “O”. The sculpture, which stood approximately 8.5” tall, was fabricated in aluminum with a golden bead-blasted finish. The sculpture awards were mounted on black marble bases with gold-fill engraving.
Inductees received these awards at the induction ceremony held October 23, 2019 at the historic Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto. Since 1949, the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame has inducted 429 athletes, teams, coaches, and builders in recognition of their outstanding Olympic achievements and their embodiment of the Olympic values.
