Bennett Custom Awards Featured at 2018 AKC National Championship

The American Kennel Club (AKC) featured a custom perpetual award created by Bennett Awards at the 2018 AKC National Championship presented by Royal Canin. The AKC National Championship is America’s largest dog show.

In 2016 Bennett Awards work collaboratively with Royal Canin to design a new custom perpetual award design to honor Best in Show winners. This hand-sculpted sculpture award is in the shape of a unique cup that stands 32” tall. The sculpture cup features unique ribbon-shaped handles, a large rosette, and a large plaque in the center of the award with the designs of the AKC National Championship and Royal Canin logos. The sculpture award was cast in bronze, and features a gleaming high-polish finish. The bronze cup sculpture is mounted on a two tier black hardwood base. The base holds medallions identifying each year’s Best in Show champion.

The 2018 AKC National Championship presented by Royal Canin featured 5,003 dogs competing for the Best in Show title. Combined with the other ancillary events, 9,023 dogs competed in the event. 21 countries and 49 states were represented. The 2018 Best in Show winner was Whiskey the Whippet. In addition to the custom plaque proclaiming the victory, Whiskey took home a $50,000 cash prize.

The 2018 AKC National Championship was held December 15 & 16 in Orlando, Florida. The show aired on Animal Planet on New Year’s Day.
