Logo Award Design: How To Order A Custom Made Award Based on Your Logo
Nearly every organization we’ve worked with has dedicated time, effort and resources towards developing a perfected logo that represents attributes of their unique organization.
It makes sense then, that a frequent request from many of our custom awards clients is to help them incorporate their logo into a creative award.
Logo Awards That Make an impact
Our goal is always to create a logo award using the smartest, most effective, and creative design sense possible.
Our account supervisors and designers work with each client individually to determine and develop the best solutions for transforming a logo design into a logo award.
Below is an overview of the process our customers go through with the Bennett Awards team when they order a custom award based around their logo, along with example stories from each logo transformation.
You’ll see how every experience is unique, and how we can guide you thoughtfully based on your initial vision, the scope of your recognition event, and your target budget.
How to Design an Award from a Logo
Step 1: Questions and Answers
Our business is built on a unique combination of handcrafted artisanship, cutting-edge design technology, and state-of-the art production methodologies.
With so many options available to our clients, the following is a small sample of considerations that our account supervisors will go over with you when determining how to incorporate your logo into an award:
Do you want your custom logo award to be in 2D or 3D?
Do you want to feature your logo colors most prominently or is another design element more important?
How many awards will you need?
Will you be needing awards annually?
What is your budget?
What is your in-hand date?
Similarly to a choose-your-own adventure book, each answer to the above questions leads us down the road to create something uniquely perfect for you.
All the while, account supervisors stay laser-focused on:
Listening to each customer
Creating what they need
Providing outstanding customer service through the entire process.
Step 2: Brainstorm and Iterate
Some clients come to us with inspirations and ideas, where others just know they need the perfect awards at the right price.
No matter what, our account supervisors are well-equipped to help guide custom award seekers through every step of the process, as detailed below.
Custom Logo Award Example 1: The Max
Extruded Aluminum Bias Cut
The Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience (The MAX) is an experiential museum that showcases Mississippi’s contributions to the arts, including music, visual arts, performing arts, and literature. They wanted a unique award to recognize their 2019 Hall of Fame inductees.
Staying true to their modern ethos was of primary importance to The MAX team.
The MAX wanted their recipients to be able to be able to display the award on a bookshelf both vertically and horizontally, with the functionality of being able to see the logo “pop” in both settings.
We honed in on a vision of a tall custom award with their logo extruded, and plenty of open space within the award.
Our account supervisor, Perry and our lead designer Ryan determined that this logo in particular, could not be machined tooled or traditionally cast and needed to be extruded in aluminum. This is due to The MAX’s sharp angles on the inside of the letters and the long open cavity needed to achieve the desired effect.
Ryan and Perry developed a 12-inch tall extruded aluminum with the logo featured at the top of a 30 degree bias cut.
The final product hit the mark. The sharp edged design of the logo was honored and featured prominently juxtaposed against the simple black anodized and bead-blasted finish. As a modern art museum, an unorthodox and industrial approach was a good fit for their brand, and it also reflected the trailblazing group of recipients honored.
Custom Logo Award Example 2: Sentry
3-Dimensional Bead-blasted Aluminum
Sentry’s platform helps every developer diagnose, fix, and optimize the performance of their code. A representative from Sentry reached out to us. Their goal was to do a custom trophy for managers to award team members who accomplish "out-sized achievements". They wanted something 3 Dimensional that coordinated with the 2D perpetual award for the Hackweek World Champs.
Originally, our Account Supervisor, Karen and lead designer, Ryan pursued the path of 3D print fabrication for this award. However, after further testing and research, the thickness and intricate cuts of the design caused prices that were not as cost-effective as we wanted for the quantity needed.
After brainstorming, they determined a different for the award fabrication, called EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) would be the right fit for the quantity desired. The award finish would be similar to the large Sentry logo that was created on top of the 2D perpetual award, pictured above and also created by our team.
It was important to the Sentry team to have the angle of the wooden platform match the angle of the pyramid, which the designers put into place.
The end result led to a high degree of satisfaction from our client, quoted below.
Custom Logo Award Example 3: Global Wellness Summit
Pewter Ring Mounted on Black Marble Base
The Global Wellness Institute (GWI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to empower wellness worldwide by educating the public and private sectors about preventative health and wellness. Their team contacted us about incorporating their logo into a custom award for their annual summit.
Account Supervisor, Karen determined that they wanted something in the color silver, and they wanted to give these awards out annually.
With that in mind, Karen suggested a traditionally cast pewter award which can be a cost-effective way to reproduce awards year after year.
The rounded edges of this particular logo are perfect for hand-casting by our artisan in our pewter foundry.
Karen recommended a brushed, or satin finish as it is a softer finish that would harmonize with wellness.
The end result was an award that is reordered year after year. The marble base with laser etch adds heft to the award and silver fill engraving personalizes each award and adds another pop of silver.
Logo Award Example 4: Stone Ward
Painted Aluminum Ring on Custom Concrete Base
Stone Ward is a creative force for good. They contacted us about creating logo awards for their annual retreat. Their team were going to present some important monetary awards to 10 non-profits and needed physical awards to hand out during the presentations.
Stone Ward had a sketch of what they were are looking for, with their main priority being a PMS color match of the Stone Ward orange.
Our Account Supervisor, Karen determined a PMS matched orange 4" aluminum ring mounted on 3" custom concrete base would be a great combination to fit their vision and budget.
Stone Ward wanted the use of color in the base personalization so their plate is sublimated metal. Sublimation is the process we use for the engraving so that we can add color.
To correctly PMS match the paint, we received a swatch from Stone Ward to match exactly.
The final product was wildly successful, as shown by the direct quote from our client below.
Custom Logo Award Example 5: MoPop
High Polished Aluminum Frame on Polished Black Anodized Base
The Museum of Pop Culture’s mission is to make creative expression a life-changing force by offering experiences that inspire and connect our communities.
Their team reached out to Bennett Awards asking to create a custom award from their Founder's Award virtual event program which aired December 1, 2020.
Most importantly to them was a wish to replicate the outside of their building, which was inspired by Jimi Hendrix and architectural designer Frank Gentry .
Account Supervisor, Mollee worked with our lead designer Ryan to reflect the elements of the MoPop building in both in the polish and the chameleon color paint.
Ryan designed from waterjet cut steel, chameleon powder coated placed in a square recessed cavity. He then used a high polished aluminum frame mounted on an aluminum polished black anodized base.
The metal aluminum polished top portion of the frame, insert of the panels, and the base also aluminum with black anodizing combined to make the heft needed for awards worthy of both the Museum of Pop Culture and their featured guest, Alice in Chains.
The artistic engineering is the real story behind the overall design. Combining art with engineering, they honored the same methodology done with the overall building design. This award was top-notch specific for MoPOP.
Unlike mass-produced plaques and trophies, our unique awards are handcrafted works of art that your recipients will proudly display for many years. These are just a few examples of how to create timeless art from your logo.
