Principal Charity Classic PGA Tournament Presents Bennett Custom Awards

For the ninth consecutive year, the Principal Charity Classic PGA Tournament presented a custom award created by Bennett Awards to its tournament champion. This PGA Tour Champions golf tournament, which is presented by Wells Fargo, was founded in 2001 and is based in Des Moines, Iowa. The tournament raises money for Iowa children’s charities, and has contributed nearly $10 million in the last 10 years.

The tournament has commissioned 4 different custom award designs from Bennett Awards over the years, incorporating both pewter and glass sculptures. The 2017 award design was a new design that featured a glass sculpture in the shape and color scheme of the Principal logo. Two awards were created based on this custom design: a larger perpetual award and a smaller individual award for the tournament champion. The perpetual logo sculpture was larger, and mounted on a tiered hardwood base with plates engraved with each year’s champion. The individual award was based on a smaller logo sculpture and mounted on a single tier hardwood base.

The tournament was held at the Wakonda Club in Des Moines, Iowa, it’s location since 2013. The 2017 champion and recipient of the custom champion’s award was Brandt Jobe, who finished with a 14-under 202 for his first victory in 19 years, edging out Scott McCarron and Kevin Sutherland by one stroke.
