Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Championship Presents Bennett Custom Awards
For the fourth straight year, the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) presented custom trophies created by Bennett Awards to its national champion teams. The MCLA is the preeminent non-varsity collegiate lacrosse organization in the country. The MCLA currently operates with 200+ teams in two divisions (Division I & II), across ten conferences.
Custom national championship trophies designed by Bennett Awards were presented to the 2017 MCLA National Champions in their two different competition divisions: one trophy for Division I, and another for Division II. Grand Canyon University (GCU) won the 2017 Division I championship award after defeating Chapman his marked the second championship in the last three years for GCU (Chapman was the 2016 DI champion). In Division II, Concordia University of Irvine beat St. Thoms to secure their first-ever championship. The national championship matches and trophy presentation were held May 13, 2017 at Chapman Stadium in Orange, California.
In 2014, the Bennett Awards worked collaboratively with the MCLA to create a new, unique custom award design for their National Championship trophy. The award design was inspired by the MCLA logo: an impressionistic representation of the curved end of a lacrosse stick. These unique custom championship awards are constructed out of both anodized steel and acrylic. The outer edges of the awards are made from anodized steel, and clear acrylic is used for the inside plane of the awards. Logos from the teams participating in the National Championship tournament are silk-screened on the surface of the inner acrylic plane.
