Hub Magazine "Hub Prize" Awards
Bennett Awards created a unique, integrated custom award solution for The Hub Magazine. The Hub Magazine is an industry leading marketing journal recognized for identifying and analyzing innovative marketing strategies and trends.
In 2011, The Hub Magazine commissioned Bennett Awards to create an integrated set of custom recognition awards for “The Hub Prize”. Presented by The Hub Magazine, The Hub Prize is an annual competition that recognizes excellence in the retail marketing experience. The Hub Prize celebrates the many ways in which retailers, brand marketers, agencies, design firms, technology companies, research firms, consultants and others make the retail experience excellent for customers, both online and in-store. By recognizing outstanding performance across every kind of retail, The Hub Prize competition promotes innovation and excellence in the shopping experience.
As part of this achievement awards program, each year one company is honored as the overall winner of the Ultimate Hub Prize, and, in recognition of this, receives the coveted Hub Cup. In addition, 36 other companies are recognized as Gold, Silver and Bronze medal winners, with 12 award recipients in each category. The winners are selected by a panel of distinguished judges, including academics, marketing thought-leaders, and veterans of major retail brands. All 37 winners are featured in the November/December issue of the Hub Magazine, which is available by subscription, in Barnes & Noble stores, as an iPad app in the iTunes store, and online at hubmagazine.com.
For this recognition program, Bennett Awards worked collaboratively with The Hub Magazine to create an integrated family of unique custom awards. At the centerpiece of this integrated awards program is the Hub Cap, a custom, handcrafted trophy cup designed and produced specifically for this award. The Hub Cup stands 16” tall, is cast in solid bronze, and features an antique patina finish. Custom medallions created for the medal winners (see below) are embedded in the front and back of the trophy cup – the front of one medallion facing from the front, and the back of another medallion facing from the back. In addition, the name of the Hub Cup winner is engraved inside the cup, just beneath the rim.
For the medal winners, Bennett Awards created custom 3” medallions with customized images that match the branding esthetic of The Hub Magazine. Each medallion features mold-based etching of the award name: “The Hub Prize”. These custom medallions are produced in pewter, and feature bronze, silver and gold plating for the respective award categories.
In 2011, the inaugural year of this achievement awards program, the Hub Cup winner was Proctor & Gamble for its Tide Dry Cleaners program. Winners of the 36 Hub Medals included Coca-Cola, Starbucks, McDonald’s, the Disney Store, Kimberly-Clark, Kellogg’s, Kraft Foods, Safeway, ConAgra Foods, Converse, CVS, MillerCoors, Sauza Tequila, Kellogg’s, Gillette, Domino’s Pizza, Unilever, Walgreens, 7-Eleven, E&J Gallo, Sprouts Markets, Bloom Grocery, Cricket Wireless, Bombadier, TD Canada Trust, and Dean Foods.
