Mirror Mirror Urban Recognition Awards
Bennett Awards just finished the design and production of a new set of custom recognition awards for the “Mirror Mirror Awards”. These achievement awards recognize icons, luminaries, and trendsetters in a variety of industries, including entertainment, fashion, and beauty. These award ceremonies have been, or will be, held in a variety of cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Atlanta, and plans are to roll these awards out to 13 major cities by 2013. These recognition awards are sponsored by Rolling Out Magazine and rollingout.com, Urban America’s preferred lifestyle resource.
For these awards, Bennett Awards created a new custom award design based on the Mirror Mirror logo – a stylized “M” shape with the words “Mirror Mirror” at the bottom. The second instance of “Mirror” is backwards, as it would appear in a mirror. These unique awards were created using Bennett Award’s custom-cut metal process, which uses high-precision lasers to cut out precise shapes from a variety of metal materials. Two layers of metals were deployed in the Mirror Mirror custom awards. The first layer established the primary form of the awards (the “M” shape), and was constructed out of aluminum with a chrome powder-coated finish. The second layer was affixed on top of the first, and used open spaces to reveal the design details and typography of the logo in the layer beneath it. This second layer was created out of brushed stainless steel. The second layer was affixed to both sides of the awards, creating a “mirror image” of the two sides. The sculpture awards were then mounted on black marble bases with personalized engraved plates with award and recipient information.
These custom achievement awards were initially presented at the Mirror Mirror Awards – Hollywood event, which was focused on the entertainment industry. This awards ceremony was held December 6, 2012, at the Rolling Stone Restaurant and Lounge in Los Angeles.
