ALYN "Wheels of Love" Awards
Bennett Awards created a new custom award design to recognize outstanding American contributors to the “Wheels of Love” charity bike ride, the largest multi-day charity bike ride in the Middle East. Wheels of Love is a 5-day charity bike ride held each year in Israel, and benefits children that are being treated at the ALYN Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel’s premier comprehensive rehabilitation center for physically disabled children. Riders from all over the world secure sponsors, and funds raised through their efforts benefit the children of ALYN.
Wheels of Love was started in 2000, and has grown at a tremendous rate. In its inaugural year, the event had 10 riders who raised a total of $65,000. In its latest year, 2012, the ride featured over 4,000 riders who raised over $2 Million. To date, the charity event has raised over $20 Million for ALYN.
These custom recognition trophies were commissioned by the American Friends of ALYN in order to honor outstanding American contributors to the Wheels of Love bike ride. Bennett Awards worked closely with the American Friends of ALYN to create a new, unique custom award design that captured the essence and import of the event. These achievement trophies feature an impressionistic sculpture of a figure holding a bike above its head. These sculpture trophies are cast in pewter, and feature a brushed pewter finish. They are then mounted on a base made from Jerusalem marble, in homage to the event’s location. These bases feature personalized engraving of the purpose of the award, the recipient’s name, the year of recognition, and the ALYN Hospital logo.
The American Friends of ALYN Hospital is the only representative in North America for ALYN Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel. As the proud supporters of Israel’s premier comprehensive rehabilitation center for physically disabled children (from birth to young adulthood), they are committed to raising both awareness and funds to insure that the critically important work done at ALYN is never interrupted.
