U.S. Poker Open Commissions Bennett Custom Award
Poker Central commissioned a custom Bennett Award for its 2018 U.S. Poker Open, one of the premier poker events in the country. The award – the U.S. Poker Open Cup, served as the championship trophy for this eight-event series. Over 11 days, some of the best poker players in the world competed in eight tournaments with a variety of formats and buy-ins. The player with the most amount of earnings over the series – Stephen Chadwick – was crowned the overall champion and took home the coveted trophy. Chadwick made 4 final tables out of the eight, and amassed $1,256,650 in winnings. The series was held February 2-11, 2018, at the Aria Hotel & Resort in Las Vegas.
For this award, Bennett Awards worked closely with Poker Central to create a stunning new custom award design. This unique award features an open faced “cup” with high peaks on each of its sides, creating a dramatic effect. The peaks hold a sold clear acrylic orb with color-fill etching of the U.S. Poker Open logo, along with the year of presentation (2018). The cup sculpture had to be carefully engineered so the orb could be safely suspended between the cup’s two peaks. The cup sculpture was cast in stainless steel, and mounted on a cylindrical black hardwood base. This unique, impressive custom award stands over two feet tall.
