LeBron James, Serena Williams, Kendrick Lamar Among Custom Bennett Awards Recipients
For the second consecutive year, honorees of the The Root 100 were presented with custom awards created by Bennett Awards. The Root 100 awards honor the 100 most influential African Americans, age 25 to 45, of the past year. The Root 100 honorees are recognized for their tremendous impact on our communities, culture, and consciousness. Honorees are recognized in seven different sectors — arts, community, business, entertainment, media, politics, sports and STEM.
The 2018 recipients of this award included LeBron James, Serena Williams, and Kendrick Lamar, among many other deserving recipients.
In 2017, Bennett Awards collaborated with The Root to create two unique custom award designs, each targeted at a different category of recipient. One custom award design is a 4.5” fabricated aluminum sculpture in the shape of The Root’s “R” logo mounted on a 1.5” hardwood base. The other custom award design is a 5” hardwood maple pillar with an acrylic medallion of The Root’s “R” logo.
These unique recognition awards were presented to the 2018 recipients at a recognition awards gala held November 8, 2018 in New York City.
The Root is an Afrocentric online magazine that was launched in 2008. The Root 100, which was launched in 2011, is the magazine's annual list of the 100 most important black influencers between the ages of 25 and 45.
