Bennett Awards Creates Custom Awards for the Golden State Warriors
Bennett Awards designed a set of unique wood and pewter custom awards for the Golden State Warriors. The awards were created for the Warrior’s annual charity poker tournament. Bennett Awards worked with the Warriors organization to design and produce two separate award designs for these awards: 1) a championship sculpture award for the tournament champion; and 2) smaller award plaques for the 2nd and 3rd place finishers.
The champion’s award was created in the style of a small basketball hoop. Custom handcrafted hardwood was used for the hoop’s base and backboard, and the rim, net and post were produced from pewter, with a brushed pewter finish. The backboard was engraved with an outline, inner square, and name of the tournament. A custom pewter medallion, designed to look like a poker chip, and an engraved plate were both attached to the post.
The runner-up and 3rd place award plaques were also crafted out of wood. The wood plaques were engraved to look like mini basketball courts, including keys, 3-point lines, and other distinguishing features. Each plaque also featured custom pewter medallions with the design of a poker chip in the center court, and engraved plaques beneath each medallion. The 2nd place medallions were gold-plated, and the 3rd place medallions had a brushed pewter finish.
One unique feature of these plaques is that their backs were also engraved so that when all 9 plaques were arranged together in the correct position (like a puzzle) it formed the image of a larger Oracle Arena (Warriors’ home court) basketball court.
