World’s Top Jr. Golf Event Presents Custom Trophy from Bennett Awards
For the third consecutive year, the world’s top junior golf tournament rewarded its champions with custom trophies created by Bennett Awards. These trophies were presented at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley, which is ranked the #1 junior golf tournament by Golfweek. The 2014 Junior Invitational at Sage Valley featured 54 of the world’s top junior golfers, including 23 of the top 25 ranked players.
This year’s prestigious tournament was held April 24-26, 2014, at the Sage Valley Golf Club in Graniteville, South Carolina. Gary Player, regarded as one of the greatest golfers of all time, provided the keynote address at the tournament’s opening banquet.
The 2014 champion of this event was Scottie Scheffler of Dallas, Texas, the top-ranked junior golfer in the world. Scheffler was the 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur Champion and the AJGA Rolex Player of the Year. Sheffler finished the tournament 5-under, defeating runner-up Cameron Champ of Sacramento, California.
Bennett Awards created three unique custom trophies for this tournament. The first is a 36” perpetual trophy named the Gibbs Trophy. The Gibbs Trophy features three components: 1) at the top, a bronze sculpted golf ball with a ceramic disk inset engraved with the tournament name and logo; 2) in the center, a bronze sculpted pedestal with bas-relief images of Bobby Jones, Arnold Palmer, PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem, and Nicholas Reach, the tournament’s inaugural champion; and 3) at the bottom, a hand-crafted walnut base with alternating layers of dark and light wood. Each year, a plaque indicating that year’s champion is added to the base of the trophy.
In addition, each year’s champion received a smaller, 18” version of the award. Finally, the runners up receive custom medallions designed and produced by Bennett Awards.
