Bennett Awards Selected for 2012 Street League Skateboarding Tour
For the third consecutive year, Street League Skateboarding selected a set of custom trophies designed and produced by Bennett Awards for its nationwide skateboarding tour.
Launched in 2010, Street League Skateboarding is the preeminent competitive series in professional skateboarding worldwide. The league features 24 of the world’s best professionals competing for the largest prize purse in history. These competitions are held on one-of-a-kind concrete skate plazas constructed in world-class arenas across the United States. Street League Skateboarding is the brainchild of 20-year skateboarding industry veteran Rob Dyrdek, and is supported by corporate sponsors DC Shoes and Monster Energy.
Bennett Awards created a new set of custom awards for the 2012 Street League Skateboarding tour. These unique recognition trophies will be presented to the champions of the four 2012 tour events: 1) May 18-19 at the Spring Center in Kansas City, MO; 2) June 15-16 at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA; 3) July 14-15 at the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, AZ; and 4) the Tour Championship August 26 at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. All these events will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
At the inception of this league, Bennett Awards worked with Street League Skateboarding to create a new, unique custom awards design based on a 3D interpretation of the Street League Skateboarding logo. This custom awards design is used for two different variations of achievement trophies. The first custom trophy design is for the winners of first three tour events. These unique trophies are cast in bronze, and feature a high polished bronze finish. The second recognition trophy design is for the championship winner. This achievement trophy is similar to the first, except the award features a nickel-plated finish, and is mounted on a stacked, two-tier base. All of these trophies are mounted on white hand-crafted hardwood bases, and attached to the bases are metal plates with customized engravings of the event name and Street League Skateboarding logo.
