2022 Bennett Custom Awards Design Trends

Looking to order recognition awards for your organization or event?

These are the biggest 2022 design trends for your next custom awards project.

  1. Patina Bronze

A compelling design component of bronze sculpture awards is the variation that can be achieved by applying different colors of patina to the surface of the awards. Patination is a process designed to change the color of the bronze sculpture from its natural gold/brown to an entirely different color. Patination uses oxidation to achieve this effect – the color change is a result of a chemical reaction between the cooper in the bronze, chemicals applied to the surface of the bronze, and natural atmospheric elements surrounding the bronze (primarily oxygen).

2. Machined Metal

Machining is a production method where blocks or sheets of material are cut into custom shapes. These pieces are then finished and hand assembled. Instead of pouring liquid material into a mold, as with our cast sculpture award process, our creative machining process starts with solid blocks or sheets of material like aluminum and acrylic.

Modern aesthetics, precise measurements, unique paints and coatings and a streamlined production process are reasons our clients are leaning into machined awards.

3. Single Line Inspired

A one line award, also known as a single line award, is a drawing made with just one line. For most clients, it is a way to simplify the complex world around us. These awards are about capturing the true essence of a shape or logo in a genuine way.

4. Interesting Engraving Details

Most of the custom awards we create support some level of personalization, such as the recipient’s name, award name, presenting organization or date of presentation. Depending on the award design, personalization may be a combination of text and images (such as logos). Many of the custom awards we create can be mounted on bases with personalized engraving or may be able to incorporate personalization as part of the award itself.

5. Sustainable Materials

Our goal is to provide the most impactful awards while being environmentally conscious and reducing our environmental footprint as much as possible. With that in mind, we’ve developed our 2022 awardology line with sustainably sourced and environmentally responsible materials, including FSC certified reclaimed woods, 100% recycled aluminum with ISO 14001 certs and recyclable eco-acrylic.
